How to Cook like Julia Child - 7 Steps to Guaranteed Success in the Kitchen
With the release of the new movie about Julia Child, "Julie & Julia" a lot of people are starting to get bit by the "cooking bug" and wanting to learn how to cook like Julia Child. They are running to their kitchens and digging out the pots and pans only to find they do not have what it takes to prepare the wonderful dishes that Julia Child created.
Well, that is ok. We cannot all be master chefs like Julia Child. I cannot promise that following these steps will turn you into the second coming of Julia Child. But if you follow these steps you are guaranteed to become a better cook, and who knows, maybe one day you will be hosting your own cooking show like Julia did.
1) Start with easy recipes. There are several 3 or 5 ingredient cookbooks you can find to help you master the basic skills. Some of these dishes are really good and these basic recipes are a good way for you to "cut your teeth" to learn cooking skills.
2) Have the correct equipment and ingredients. Always make sure that you have everything you need to successfully complete a recipe. Read the recipe thoroughly before you start to make sure you have everything you will need.
3) Follow the directions. If you are anything like me you want to start getting creative when you cook. A little bit of this looks good and a little bit of that. Next thing you know you have some kind of unpalatable concoction. Follow the recipe to the word. Once you have successfully created a particular dish a few times then there is time to experiment.
4) Go to a cooking class. There are cooking schools all over and your community may even offer cheap or free cooking classes. Attend a few, they are fun. You will get to learn some new skills and recipes and maybe even find a new "cooking buddy."
5) Pick a certain cooking style to master. Italian, French, it doesn't matter. Find a style of cooking you enjoy and really master it. You can always cook any style of cooking you choose but pick one that will be your "specialty."
6) Try different recipes. Once you have mastered some basic recipes, or if you are a more experienced cook, it is time to get out of your comfort zone. Try that Chateaubriand, don't be afraid.
7) Use the CASE (Copy And Steal Everything) method. Search online to find sources of "copy cat" recipes. Learning to become a great cook takes time. In the meantime if you are hosting a special occasion or if you want to create a special dish for your family you can find any number of guides online that will show even beginners how to create gourmet dishes. Watch out for some of the free guides as you typically "get what you pay for." There are online cookbooks such as the 5 Star Secret Recipe Cookbook that will show you how to make some of the best dishes from the most world famous restaurants for a very small cost.
If you are trying to learn how to cook like Julia Child, hopefully these steps will help in some small way. Cooking is great fun and a wonderful way to bring family and friends closer together. Have fun and good luck sharpening those cooking skills. Happy cooking!

school project: international cook book?
i am making a cook book for foods class. we get to choose a theme and i was thinking about doing an "international" cookbook. we have to have atleast four chapters with five recipies each (or five chapters with four recipes). i would do italian, french, mexican and chineese.
do you think this is a good idea?
if yes, what are some recipies i should include in each theme?
if no, do you have any other cool ideas i could use?
thanks!
i don't have to make anything in the cook book i just have to make the book.
ok. i would like to you to narrow down your choices. for example, dessert, dish, meals, celebrations, etc. if not you will end up with not one cook book but 2 or 3 books and you will get mess up. trust me. coz last time for my degree project, i was asked to create my own title name. i ended up a mess and no path at all. then my supervisor asked to narrow down and i am happy with it. you too.
i'm not sure which type of recipes you want but here i'm giving you the list of sites. hope can ease you.

EAT: Cooking With Class at Le Cordon Bleu
Cursing SmartPark, street parking, and canvassers, I rushed in five minutes and late tried to sit down as inconspicuously as possible. I was a guest at A Taste of Italy, the latest in the Chef Series, Le Cordon Bleu’s cooking classes for the everyman—or at least every man willing to shell out $90. Before I [...]
